Fall Camping Trip

We had a great time camping at Lake Sakatah State Park over MEA weekend.

We went on a long family bike ride through gorgeous fall colors.

Pumpkin Patch

We had a good time going to two apple orchard/pumpkin patch/family farms yesterday.

The boys loved the bin full of dried corn to play in. . .

and all of the animals they could pet and hold.

The three little piggies!

We also got to handpick our own apples, although the kids were so eager, I'm afraid we may have ended up with mostly unripe ones! We do love fall in MN--it almost makes us forget winter is coming.

Dia de la Raza Costumes

Here are the boys dressed in Hispanic finery for Dia de la Raza celebration at school. We went to the thrift store and picked out costume pieces. Trevor's vest is an adult XL and I don't know if Ian's shirt was African or Mexican, but everyone was happy.

Trevor and Ian's field trip to Westwood Nature Center

I got to accompany Trevor and Ian's kindergarten class on their first field trip, to Westwood Nature Center in St. Louis Park, about 20 minutes from school. The theme was "apples," so they saw a puppet show that taught them about apple trees, went on a leaf walk and got to make some apple cider with a 100-year-old cider press. They got to have some cider also, but bottled cider, not the cider they made. They also got to see the creatures at the nature center. Trevor was fascinated by the tarantula. Ian was proud of the big leaf he found.

Crazy Boys!

The boys rigged up a punching bag full of leaves for some unusual fall fun yesterday. Here they are with a couple of neighbor kids. We certainly know how to entertain the neighborhood!

My Room

My big project this week has been finally getting rid of the white walls in my bedroom. I'm loving the new look, although Ron says he feels like he's underwater.

My Hair Cut

For those of you who don't know, I cut my hair off on August 23 and donated it to Locks of Love, a charity that makes wigs for people that have lost their hair to cancer treatment or other problems. My stylist said I had enough hair for two donations!
